The Basics

The only way to explore the sprawling ruins of Delphi is on foot. Visiting with a tour guide offers a greater insight into the fascinating history of the archaeological site, while the nearby Delphi Archaeological Museum offers an array of exhibits.. Most visitors choose to visit on a day tour from Athens or Patras, often combined with nearby attractions such as Arachova, Saint Lucas Monastery, or Meteora.

The tour was excellent. The tour guide was excellent and the driver was skillful at going up the winding mountain roads. Lunch was delightful.

Delphi Day Trip from Athens
Very fun and informative experience. The tour guide had a wealth of knowledge and you learn so much about Greece and historical sites as you drive to Delphi. I definitely recommend this experience. Only notes of caution is that you may want to avoid during extremely hot days and also because of changing covid regulations we did not get the guided tour through the museum which was slightly a bummer. otherwise very cool experience.

Delphi: A Day Tour at the Navel of the World from Athens
Except for the extreme heat, this was a lovely day. The bus was clean and comfortable and we took a comfort break each way. Delphi is amazing and the small museum has some true treasures. Lunch was terrific. We ordered off menu rather than the prepaid lunch and it was a lot of food. The guides were very nice and helpful.

Delphi full day private tour from Athens
Our driver was on time in a nice clean van with AC and wifi. He was a good driver, smooth and safe. After leaving us to see the sights at Delphi, he picked us up promptly after we messaged him that we were done. He drove us to a fantastic restaurant where he had a table with a magnificent view reserved for our family. After dinner, we explored Arachova for a bit. The trip back to Athens was equally comfortable.

Delphi One Day Trip from Athens
Our guide, Evan, did a fantastic job! He was very knowledgeable and explained everything very well. Stops were well spaced out to give us a break on a very hot day. The bus was clean and comfortable. I would definitely book with this tour company again!!! In the ancient world, Delphi was the place you came to find out answers (will I win this battle, should I do this business deal, etc.). Come see the place that held this power.

A Wonderful Visit to Delphi

Delphi full day private tour from Athens
Our family of seven visited Greece from United States in October of 2021. We had a private tour with My Athens Transfer. Visalis, our driver, was early in picking us up. He was friendly but a little quiet at first. He warmed up to our chatting later. He recommended a wonderful place with a beautiful view and good, traditional Greek food for our lunch. He even showed us a great location to take a group picture to end our day trip! Thanks so much and our family had a nice visit in Delphi.

From Athens: Full-Day Bus Trip to Delphi & Arachova (fixed price per person)
What a wonderful day! Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. The ride was so nice to Delphi and Wil (not sure if I spelled correctly) was great telling us about the history. Our lunch stop was wonderful!! Definitely go. It wasn’t a large tour and the timing was perfect beating the crowds.

Delphi One Day Trip from Athens
We really enjoyed our tour of Delphi. The bus trip up was comfortable and informative. The guide had lots of history to share. There was a rest stop along the way (thanks!). Delphi itself was amazing. We learned a lot about the mythology and enjoyed the tour and walking around the grounds. The museum is beautiful, with so many artifacts to see. Lunch afterwards was delicious. Highly recommend.

2-Day Trip to Delphi and Meteora from Athens
Joy was our first tour guide to Delphi. Instead of talking to the tour she talked to the driver the whole time. Finally got to Delphi and she talked which gave us limited time to see the sites. Then we were transferred to another tour. Our tour guide was much better but the hotel was just ok. Enjoyed the monetary but the guide did not check which one was open so we had to go to a different one. Wish we had more time to see the sites

2-Day Trip to Delphi and Meteora from Athens
The first 1/2 day tour to Delphi was too rushed and less than satisfactory. Then we joined another bus with the same company. It was a night and day difference. We spend 1-1/2 days in Meteora. Our tour guide Giota was excellent in explaining the history and kept us engaged.

Effy was a top notch guide - highly recommend! A long drive to the site , but well worth the time. Delphi site with on site museum were both incredible .

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The ruins of Delphi are spread over a large area—plan at least half a day to take in the highlights.

  • Bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and comfortable shoes to walk around the ruins.

  • The Delphi Museum is wheelchair accessible, but due to steep and uneven ground, it is not possible to visit the ruins up close via wheelchair.

Ancient Delphi in Greek Mythology

In ancient Greece, Delphi was considered the center of the world, or the place where heaven and earth met. Legend says that Zeus released two eagles from opposite ends of the earth to find its center, and they met over Delphi. The city become a sanctuary to the god Apollo and home of the famous Oracle of Delphi, a trusted oracle from which the spirit of Apollo gave advice on everything from domestic matters to war.
