Great way to see Korean culture and historical village charm. The fortress wasn't as good as the village
The folk village is the equivalent of Sovereign Hill. Historical houses and beautiful gardens. A pleasure to look at. Great education for young and old. Can spend a few hours there. The fortress wasn't as exciting

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Korean Folk Village Day Tour from Seoul
The guide was very knowledgeable and we had a good contact. It was actually a very personal trip since we were the only participants so we could ask as many questions as we wanted. There was a lot to see at the Fortress but best part was Villagers performance at Korean Folk Village and I highly recommend seeing that.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Korean Folk Village Day Tour from Seoul
We had a really good day with Brian. It was a very cold day at the fortress, snowing. Brian gave us lots of information, he was friendly and cheerful. Lunch was really good and hot which was great for such a cold day. The Korean folk village was interesting. As there were so few people at the village due to the cold and mid week, we got to see lots very quickly. All up a very interesting tour and great to get out a bit from central Seoul.

MBC DaeJangGeum Park & Folk Village Tour
The morning tour was so much fun. I watch a lot of Historical Korean Drama and to see the site where they are filmed is awesome. We tried on a Joseon Dynasty King and a Hanbok costume and we have a priceless picture. The view of autumn foliage and cool weather made the trip more enjoyable. The afternoon tour to Korean Folk Village and Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon was equally amazing. I give 5 stars to our tour guide Il Yun Jung. She made our trip very memorable.

It’s always difficult to find things that your teens will enjoy, but this trip was a great balance of history, culture and fun. Ben was a fantastic guide and we thoroughly enjoyed learning more about South Korea!

Korean Folk Village
The tour was great. They were on-time for pick-up and chatted with us all about Korea and taught us some words in Korean on the drive. The Folk Village was fabulous and we got a detailed explanation about the different buildings and their use. The Korean Wedding was a great end to the tour. A must do tour for those new to visiting Korea. Our tour guide and driver were very nice and made the tour a fun one. Next visit I hope to have enough time to do the dress-up and photo option.

Day Trip to Yongin Daejanggeum and Korean Folk Village from Seoul
We had a great time on this tour. Our guide was very helpful in teaching us the places we went to. My mother is a big fan of Korean dramas, but even I was finding the tour interesting. The tour guide was late, but made it his mission to make it up to us and we had a blast. I highly recommend this tour.

Small Group Half-Day Korean Folk Village Tour from Seoul
The folk village tour is definite must if you're in Seoul. Our tour guide, Anna, was great. She made sure we were able to catch the live action shows of the village and gave thorough explanations of the village. Her English was excellent. For a half-day tour, we got the highlights. If there is time, I would recommend spending a full day since there's so much to see there.

We have a private tour, it was great. Our tour guide was friendly, told us a lot about Korea. And we had a traditional Korean BBQ lunch, which has 15-16 side dishes.

Korean Cultural Combo: Yongin MBC Dramia TV Set Tour and Korean Folk Village from Seoul
MBC dramia is a must visit for fans of period k dramas- jewel in the palace, dong Yi and the house of gu were shot there. We probably saw half the place on a half day but that was sufficient. The Folk Village was interesting with the many traditional performances, houses and displays.

Good exposure to Korean culture but guide could have been more informative

Gyeongbok Palace and Korean Folk Village Tour
Along with my wife and daughter, I had a good time visiting the Jyeongsoo Temple, the Gyeongbok Palace and attached museum and the Korean folk village. The last of these was the best, such a wonderful place! The sad thing however is that our guide did not take us around the folk village. If there were explanations of the objects and exhibits we saw, that would have been OK, but that facility was not available - surprising because so many foreign tourists come there. We had so many cultural questions, but our guide was not around to ask for information. So much to see there, but she gave us only 80 minutes to go around. Instead of leaving at 3:20, we could have easily left at 4 pm. After all we paid for a full day tour.

When to Get There

The Korean Folk Village is open year-round, though hours change from season to season. Because many of the attractions are outdoors, it’s a good idea to visit on a clear day in spring or autumn.

Eating at the Korean Folk Village

Hungry travelers have a few opportunities to sample traditional Korean fare at the Korean Folk Village. The Bazaar serves about 20 local dishes, while Restaurant “Korea” specializes in upscale Korean cuisine. You’ll find traditional Korean comfort food in the shingle-roofed Restaurant Gilmokjib, or sit down for a cup of tea at the Traditional Cafe and Korean Herb Pharmacy.
