St. Peter's Basilica , Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Città del Vaticano, Vatican City
Meet and greet your guide opposite the entrance to the Vatican Museums, a collection of galleries filled with classical and Renaissance masterpieces, including the Sistine Chapel frescoes. Walk inside through a reserved door without any waiting. This access is even faster than the priority lines.

Once inside, there are more than 2,000 rooms and nine miles of art, so follow along with your guide who points out the highlights and explains the story behind each piece. The small-group nature of your tour allows you to remain close to your guide at all times, but a headset is included to make sure you can always hear the commentary clearly.

Stroll through rooms like the Gallery of Maps, with its golden, vaulted ceiling; the Raphael Rooms, painted by Renaissance artist Raphael; and the stunning Sistine Chapel, considered to be the Pope’s home chapel, with Michelangelo’s 'Creation of Adam' and
'The Last Judgement.' On your early-access tour, you find the galleries to be considerably quieter than they would be later in the day.

Finish with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church ever built and one of the holiest and most important sites in Christendom. Get an overview of its long history from your guide, and get an up-close look at 'La Pietà,' one of Michelangelo’s earlier sculptures that depicts the body of Jesus on the lap of his mother Mary after the Crucifixion.

Your tour ends inside the basilica. After you’ve finished exploring with your group, you can stay as long as you want on your own. It’s the perfect time to head down into the crypts or climb up to the top of St. Peter’s dome (own expense) for uninterrupted views of Rome.

No St Peters

We chose this tour because the itinerary listed time at St Peters. That was not part of the tour. Advertising needs to reflect current realities.

Maria Teresa was our tour...

Maria Teresa was our tour guide and she was excellent. She gave us a brief history of the paintings, sculptures and Vatican buildings. We really enjoyed out tour with her.

Interesting tour with friendly and knowledgeable guide

Firstly, our guide Alessandra was brilliant! She was so knowledgeable but also chatty and friendly. She was happy to stop and discuss any sculptures or artwork along the tour. Two small issues with the actual tour - we booked an early access morning tour, which was cancelled and rearranged for 12pm with no explanation, and we were unable to have a guided tour of the basilica as advertised, which we were not told about until the tour had already started. However, because Alessandra was so great still 5 stars

Lovely guide and very impressive museum tour

Our guide was super friendly and patient. I would recommend this tour. The museum is very impressive. It's long in terms of the time so make sure you've comfortable attire, shoes and a light bag. Our guide told us lots of interesting facts, I would recommend getting a pre booked tour as it was no hassle when we arrived, all the tickets were sorted for us and it made the morning a lot more enjoyable rather than exploring ourselves.

Sara was our PhD tour guide and her knowledge was impeccable. Equally impressive was her enthusiasm and her warmth and her smile. She was the best tour guide I have encountered. You have a good one here.

Perfect intro to Vatican City

Great way to visit the museums, grounds, especially if first time. With max 12 for this group, it is a very efficient way to go. Emiliano our guide provided excellent narratives along the way, he basically made this review excellent. Too bad we had to separate quickly at entry of Sistine chapel. We regretted not having opportunity in the rush to thank him more properly. Bravo Emiliano!

The way to see the Vatican!

Doriana was absolutely fantastic!!!! This was actually our second time Doing the Vatican and I would say we didn’t gain as much info like this! She has a PhD in medieval archaeology and blew our minds away. I heard Someone in our tour group make a comment like “I don’t think I can speak that passionately about any topic for as long as she has!” Thank you so much Doriana

Couldn’t have done it without our guide.

Our tour guide was very good. So much knowledge and interactive with our group of 10. No heavy accent barriers made it easy to understand everything and her comparisons with the history facts to modern times helped to grasps the magnitude of it all.
