Caldera Half Day Tour (Volcano, Hot Springs, Thirassia)

Our boat captain and guide, Dada, and his crew were great! Friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the history of the islands and the volcano. The thermal waters weren’t so thermal but we’re so glad we jumped in and swam to them. Great experience. We are a wonderful lunch at Captain John’s at the last stop and didn’t make the walk to the top. Not enough time to do both but we were fine enjoying lunch and not rushing about. The only negative thing was our transportation back to Oia. We paid for the transportation included, for convenience, which was great on the way there. Took about 45 minutes which was fine. But the way back took almost an hour and a half. Literally had a “tour” of the island while dropping off other guests. Missed the Oia sunset because we got back so late. Should have just taken a cab from Fira. Otherwise, excellent trip!

Great cost-benefit trip. Bring water and cash for volcano entrance and lunch at Thirassia. Walking shoes and sun hat for the volcano are also a good idea, it’s also windy on the top. You have to swim well to get to the hot springs, but they’ll provide foam floaters. If you’d like to swim, bring a towel so you don’t make the rest of the trip wet. In thirassia the best view is up the stairs, but it’s a long way in not so much time, the Panorama restaurant is really worth it and the view up there is amazing.

Amazing tour, very good value for money, very knowledgeable tour guide on the volcano, allowed to roam freely with handout information, lovely warm waters to swim in at the hot springs and a great exfoliation! Then amazing location for lunch! Definitely do!

Great tour! We left the old port at 10:30 am on a beautiful wooden boat. I recommend just walking to the old port. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes early to complete paperwork. Then, we went straight to the volcano hike (very mild hike, slight incline with loose rocks making footing unstable). After the volcano, we went to the hot springs and swam. The springs are not exactly hot, but are definitely sulphuric! We then went to a lovely little island and had lunch. It’s probably the most inexpensive food I’ve had during Santorini, and the Greek food was excellent. We docked by 4:30 pm, and I took the cable car back up to Fira. Overall, fulfilling day, and I learned a lot. I appreciated the guide that Yoni provided.

Although I was with 70 or more others the boat did not feel too crowded. The guide was v knowledgeable about the history of eruptions etc. The hot springs were luke warm at best but a fun diversion. The climb to Thirassia town was pretty exhausting and just about worth the effort for the views. We got a bonus bypass of Oia to round things off. The only downside was the port restaurant charging 1euro for small bottle of water, then finding it was half as much on the boat!

Nice trip. Easy embarking.Fantastic views.Hot Springs experience was fun. Overall good value for money we paid.

This is a tour day for those in good physical shape who like a little fun. The walk up to the volcano is pretty steep on lava rock. I didn't try the hot springs, but floating in the water was very refreshing. We ate lunch at Captain Johns which provided good food at a fair price. Our guide and his assistant were very friendly and helpful.

The whole ticket experience was a disaster. The machines had gone down and the ticket operator was very rude to all the people checking in. The tour itself was ok but also felt a little like herding cattle. You would be better doing a semi private tour

One of the highlights of our Santorini trip! We walked to and from the port (from Imerovigli into Fira then down the steep hill) so we wouldn't have to be picked up super early or deal with chaotic drop off. Very well timed stops and ability to do some things independently. We spent 5x this on a sunset caldera cruise and enjoyed this trip so much more! It was a great unexpected surprise of our trip.

Lovely time, wonderful learning experience and beautiful landscape...The walking isn't as tough as some folks have claimed...
